You are walking quietly around the Royal Łazienki Park, and then suddenly & unexpectedly the soothing sound of the piano reaches your ears? Let’s guess… It’s just a Sunday afternoon between May and September, right? No, we’re not clairvoyants, we don’t do fortune-telling and we don’t do tarot readings. We simply know a beautiful Warsaw musical tradition.

Chopin Concerts in the Royal Baths Park – what is it?

Chopin Concerts in Warsaw’s Royal Baths Park are a real feast for the ear and spirit. On spring and summer Sundays, a black classical piano is placed next to the Chopin Monument. At 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. an announcer appears on the stage. He greets the gathered audience, and then announces an hour-long musical performance. Each recital is performed by a different artist. Both Polish and foreign pianists perform at the Chopin Concerts in Royal Baths. Only in 2023, musicians from Argentina, China, France, Japan, South Korea, the United States and Italy were hosted here. The musicians perform Fryderyk’s most beautiful compositions, and the sounds of the piano resound over the most beautiful park in Warsaw.

Every Sunday recitals gather real crowds around the Chopin Monument. Crowds of Varsovians and tourists come to Royal Baths to relax in exceptionally pleasant natural surroundings. What surprises us the most here? The fact that Chopin Concerts are not entertainment only for older people, as it might seem. It turns out that classical music really connects generations.

The coolest thing is, of course, that you can listen to concerts lying comfortably on the grass, under the open sky, surrounded by water and trees. Of course, it’s good to come a little earlier. The nicer the weather, the greater the attendance. We didn’t count exactly, but there can be even several thousand people at a single recital. Sometimes it is really difficult to find a place on a lawn filled to the brim. It is similar with the benches, on which there are no space several minutes before the start of the event.

Did we mention that the Chopin Concerts are a real musical feast for the ear? In our opinion, also for the eye. Just look at the picture below. Art, music and nature are a perfect combination!

Chopin Concerts – tips

  • The 2024 Chopin Concerts Series is the 65th edition of this event. It was held for the first time in 1959 and has become a permanent part of the Warsaw’s tradition.
  • The author of the Chopin Monument project is the famous Polish sculptor Wacław Szymanowski. Have you ever wondered about the interpretation of his artistic vision? Well, the monument depicts our outstanding pianist… under a broken willow. Seriously, we wouldn’t have guessed it if we hadn’t read it on the Internet.

Royal Baths Warsaw Chopin Concerts

Chopin Concerts, Royal Baths – reviews

  • Patrix – A very nice initiative and… good idea for a date. You can listen to classical music and chat with your sweetheart. I think that the nature and sounds of the piano are a perfect combination.
  • Wiolczix – 10/10. Pleasant music + fresh air = pure relaxation. It turns out that Chopin really connects generations and nationalities. I went to Chopin Concert for the first time a few years ago. I thought that I would meet people of very retirement age there. Imagine my surprise when I saw a lot of children, young people, couples, families and groups of friends participate in that event. Cool thing! And most importantly: you don’t have to finish music school or be a professional pianist to come here. It really is entertainment for everyone. You come with a blanket, lie down on the grass, close your eyes, listen to the sounds of the piano and feel all the stress falling off you. You have to try it!
