Ciechanow – Castle of the Masovian Dukes
Must-see number 1 is the Castle of the Masovian Dukes. This is a place for true princes and princesses. Here, you will walk over 600-year-old walls and visit noble chambers. Walking from tower to tower you will have the opportunity to see Ciechanow from above. In the courtyard you can play XXL chess. At the end of the tour, take a look at the archaeological site. The story of the excavation was told by the Nice Gentleman who selling the tickets. You can see all these things on our TikTok and Instagram. Feel invited!
Ciechanow – water tower
Must-see number 2 is the water tower, which is a symbol of Ciechanów. In 2013, it was ranked 5th in the ranking of the most unusual towers in the world by The World Geography. (Who and why makes such weird rankings?) The object is affectionately called by the inhabitants of the city ‘mushroom’ or ‘donut’. The real curiosity, however, is the fact that this attraction is not a real water tower, but an equalization tank for water.
PS You should also visit the Torus Science Park, where both children and adults can deepen their knowledge of science in a really creative way.
Ciechanow – Museum of the Masovian Nobility
Must-see number 3 is the Museum of the Masovian Nobility – here you will be surprised by the diversity. In one of the rooms we had the opportunity to see the largest collection of sacred art in our lives. We have not seen such a concentration of religious pictures in any church. In another room there was an exhibition devoted to Jewish culture. We saw a menorah, Torah, tallit and many other items related to Judaism. The next two exhibitions were devoted to Maria Konopnicka and life in the Polish countryside. What a mix!

Ciechanow – tips
- Ciechanow has a really nice promenade, leading to the impressive Town Hall. Worth seeing.
- The Ciechan Brewery is located in the city. Unfortunately, it was not possible for us to visit it, because “tours must be booked in advance and the guests are guided personally by the chairman”. This’s what the Nice Lady working in the bar at the entrance to the building told us.
- As part of spreading the vegetarian culture, which we sincerely and faithfully cultivate, we recommend Cafe Pitagoras in the Torus Science Park. (First class burgers!)
- In Opiniogóra, 8 kilometers from Ciechanów, there is the Museum of Romanticism, surrounded by a charming park. (We’re not very romantic, and we enjoyed it anyway.)
- Relatively many famous people come from the relatively little-known Ciechanow. These are: rapper Kuba Grabowski, singer Dorota Rabczewska, linguist Jerzy Bralczyk, model Kasia Struss, vocalist Alicja Szemplińska, youtuber Sylwia Przybysz-Dąbrowska and opera singer Ewa Karaśkiewicz.
Ciechanow – worth it?
- Patrix – 7/10. Ciechanów is the perfect place for a day trip that will calm the mind of every busy person. Perfect place for slow life. Wiolczix took me here on a surprise trip and it was a very nice surprise trip. The water tower made the biggest impression on me (It’s a quite strange tower, in my private ranking of strange towers, definitely nr 1.)
- Wiolczix – 7/10. Very nice small-town atmosphere. Near Warsaw, so we recommend it to everyone who is tired of noise and traffic jams in the capital. As a real princess, it’s obvious that I liked the castle the most. But the rest of the attractions were also very enjoyable. We drank a quick cup of coffee on the promenade and ate famous ‘jagodzianki’ (buns with blueberries) in a local restaurant. Nice!
