Shows & workshops at Manufaktura Cukierków in Warsaw
What awaits you during the workshops and shows at Manufaktura Cukierków? Lots of good and colorful! We don’t want to spoil the surprise too much, but we definitely want to share with you our unforgettable impressions of making twisted lollipops.
The adventure begins with pouring a mysterious, sticky and probably (very) sweet substance from a huge pot onto the kitchen counter. Just look at these fabulous colors of dyes closed in glass bottles. They look like from an alchemist’s studio or a magic laboratory. It’s surprising but it turns out that they are 100% natural and healthy. As a curiosity: the dark color is created by one of the most valuable ores in Poland today: coal. 😉
When the thick liquid is cooled down, it turns into a lollipop mass with a very simple composition, devoid of bad preservatives and harmful anti-caking agents. The huge, sweet ball must be kneaded well and for a long time. It’s a bit like making dumplings or pizza dough.
This is where the real magic begins, the most surprising part of the show! From the very beginning, we were wondering why a large knight’s shield with a protruding hook was hanging on the wall. Well, the Lollipop Specialist hangs the cake on it, then stretches and turns it in all directions until it starts to shine beautifully. The golden ribbon looks really fabulous.
The pearl dough should then be mixed with the colored mass, forming something like a cone or a trumpet that can be stretched and rolled endlessly. The cut-off colored rollers of the lollipop mass go to the participants of the workshops. So that they can make their own lollipop (in the shape of their choice, for example a flower, circle, heart, cat or snail) and obtain the diploma of a large (or small) confectioner. Just like us!

Manufaktura Cukierków – worth it?
- Patrix – 7/10. A very nice and colorful place! A climate like from childhood fairy tales. I was surprised that delicious sweets do not have to contain artificial colors and preservatives. Wow! The moment that surprised the participants the most? This is the one when the Lollipop Expert started hitting the lollipop against the wall. A small minus admits for the involvement of the ladies who run the shows – you could feel that they did not feel a passion in it. I know that when you do the same thing for the hundredth time, it’s hard to be super-energetic, but I’ve been to a few places where the hosts have been (see the Rogal Świętomarciński Museum in Poznań).
- Wiolczix – 8/10. This is the most colorful attraction I have seen recently. During the workshops, I felt a bit like a little girl in a fairy-tale world (maybe it’s because the workshops are intended mainly for children;). Manufaktura Cukierków is proof that sweets can be (at least a little) healthy. And one more thing: I really liked the ‘zero waste’ policy and here I could find it! All the lollipop mass prepared for the workshops, and not used by the participants, was immediately converted into a sweets ready for sale. For the last one, an extra point!
