NBP Money Centre – a trip
The NBP Money Centre is one of the most modern places of this type in Poland. The creators mixed a traditional museum with modern exhibitions and added a cool design. (Check out the photos in our post and you’ll see for yourself.)
Fans of history will surely like interactive stands (where they can click through the most important events in the history of money), a timeline with important dates (which you can walk around) and a huge number of display cases with (the most different and the strangest) money from around the world. The icing on the cake is the opportunity to see the first banknote in Europe (you will be surprised how it looks and why it was created).
If you prefer less theoretical issues, go ahead, here are our recommendations. First, take a photo with a million in ten zlotys. We wish you the best, but if you never had the opportunity to earn it, this might be your last chance. Be sure to go to the treasury – here you will feel like in the ‘Money Heist’ (but don’t worry, no one will kidnap you).
Also, do not forget to pick up the gold bar, check the quality of the produced currency and learn to recognize counterfeit money (at the end, you will have a little test). When it comes to technical and technological matters, we think that you will be surprised to see the inside of the ATM and the subcutaneous payment implant.

NBP Money Centre in Warsaw – tips
- Do not be scared when at the entrance the Uniformed Man will perform an airport control. So don’t take any dangerous or suspicious items. Your luggage will be x-rayed and you will have to pass through a metal detecting gate.
- The attraction is free and very interesting, so, as you can probably guess, it is quite popular. As we passed the building on Saturday afternoon, we saw that the line curled from the exit all the way to the street. We went on a sightseeing tour on Friday at 4:30 PM and we manage to skip the line.
- Show the NBP Money Center to children. It is a great idea for a school and family trip. It will appeal to both the little ones and the older ones. They will get a nice economics lesson for free.
- It is even more fun to explore the Money Centre with a guide. The vast majority of museums we visit on our own, but here we have joined a small group. The guide said such interesting things that we would gladly recommend him by name, but unfortunately we do not remember that.
NBP Money Centre – worth it?
- Patrix – 10/10. It’s hard to give a different rating when we get so many curiosities in one place for free. For the first time in my life, I had the opportunity to look inside an ATM or pick up a gold bar. The recognition of counterfeit banknotes also made me very interested. We have both ‘traditional’ exhibits and modern activities. The perfect combination. Several interactive things were not working and it was not entirely clear how to use them. However, I leave the score 10/10, because we have everything for free, so it’s hard to explain. 😉
- Wiolczix – 8/10. In my opinion, if we have contact with something every day, we should know as much as possible about it. This is probably reason enough to visit the Money Centre. Especially in the era of inflation. I really liked the game of recognizing counterfeit banknotes. But the coolest thing was to hold a piece of gold in your hand and see (our first) million with our own eyes. It is not true that the first million has to be stolen. 😉
